As a general rule, accident victims should not be moved until specialized help arrives. However, if transport is absolutely essential (e.g., due to fire risk or extreme remoteness), the immobility of the head-neck-trunk axis must be guaranteed.  This means moving the injured person as a rigid block, avoiding any bending or twisting of the spinal column. The goal is to prevent spinal cord injuries that could cause irreversible paralysis (tetraplegia or paraplegia). Immobilizing only the head or only the trunk is insufficient and dangerous.
