Even if the motorcycle has a kick starter, the battery still requires maintenance if it is not a maintenance-free type. The electrolyte level, which is a mixture of sulfuric acid and distilled water, must be checked periodically. The level drops due to water evaporation, so it must be topped up only with distilled water to the indicated mark. Sulfuric acid should never be added, as it does not evaporate.
