How frequently is it recommended to check the rearview mirrors when driving on urban roads or roads with heavy traffic?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is every 5/10 seconds. Instructor's Explanation: The frequency of mirror observation depends directly on the amount of information to process and how fast the environment changes: In built-up areas (urban roads) and roads with traffic: The environment is very dynamic (pedestrians, traffic lights, sudden braking, lane changes). Therefore, vigilance must be almost constant, checking mirrors every 5 to 10 seconds at most. On motorways, dual carriageways, or roads without traffic: Driving is more monotonous and the environment changes more slowly, allowing observation to be spaced out to every 10 to 15 seconds. Remember that checking mirrors should consist of brief glances so as not to neglect what is happening in front of the vehicle.
