Can stress alter the psychophysical abilities necessary to drive safely?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

Stress is a psychophysical risk factor that seriously alters a driver's abilities. The correct answer is affirmative because stress triggers defense mechanisms that are incompatible with safe driving. Specifically: Increases aggression and impulsiveness: The driver tends to respect rules less and make risky decisions. Reduces concentration: The mind is occupied with the source of stress, diverting attention away from the road. Increases reaction time: Being distracted means the driver takes longer to perceive hazards and act. Tunnel vision: Stress can narrow the field of vision, preventing the driver from seeing what is happening on the sides. Therefore, it is false to claim that it has no influence or never affects driving; on the contrary, it is a frequent cause of accidents.
