Is it necessary to properly adjust the headrests on the rear seats?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The headrest is a fundamental passive safety element designed to limit neck movement and protect against whiplash in the event of a rear-end collision. It is not a comfort or decorative feature. Therefore, yes, they must be adjusted, both front and rear, to fit the physical height of each occupant to be effective. The general rule indicates that the top of the headrest should be aligned with the top of the head and at a minimal distance from the nape of the neck (maximum 4 cm). Assuming they do not affect safety or leaving them poorly positioned severely increases the risk of spinal injuries.
