When driving on a road outside a built-up area, what minimum lateral separation must a motorcycle maintain when overtaking a truck?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is a space of not less than 1.5 meters. According to the General Traffic Regulations, when the driver of a two-wheeled vehicle (motorcycle) overtakes another vehicle outside a built-up area, they must leave a lateral separation of not less than 1.50 meters. Why is it important? This distance is critical when overtaking bulky vehicles (such as trucks) at higher speed, since the displacement of air can create a 'suction effect' or turbulence that destabilizes the motorcycle. Note: The answer about 'proportional distance' would apply if the overtaking took place within a built-up area, where the rule is different.
