Is it permitted to ride on public roads with a motorcycle that does not have an exhaust pipe?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

As a general rule, the General Vehicle Regulations establish that internal combustion engine vehicles must be equipped with an exhaust silencer and an exhaust system for gases. Riding with an 'open exhaust' or without this device is strictly prohibited because of the noise and environmental pollution it generates. However, the correct answer points out an important technical exception: electric motorcycles. Since they run on batteries and electric motors, they do not generate combustion gases or explosions, so they physically have no exhaust pipe. Therefore, no, you cannot ride without an exhaust on a gasoline motorcycle, but on electric ones this component does not exist and is not necessary.
