To avoid the onset of fatigue during a long trip, how often is it recommended to make a rest stop?

Question

The general recommendation from the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) and road safety experts is to rest every 2 hours of driving or approximately every 200 kilometers. Fatigue is a silent enemy that increases reaction time and decreases attention span. Waiting until 3 or 4 hours is dangerous, as the negative effects of tiredness often appear before the driver is fully aware of them. During these stops, it is advisable to walk around to stretch your legs, stay hydrated, and ventilate the vehicle.
