On vehicles transporting dangerous goods, what do the numbers displayed on the orange panels indicate?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

Orange panels (Sign V-11) are used to identify units transporting dangerous goods. When the panel is numbered, these digits identify the nature and type of hazard of the cargo. Specifically, the upper number is the hazard identification code (e.g., flammability, toxicity) and the lower number is the UN number identifying the specific substance transported. They correspond neither to the Maximum Authorized Mass (MAM) nor to the vehicle's speed limit.
