The moped rider in the image has their left arm extended horizontally; what maneuver are they indicating?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is that they are going to turn left. According to General Traffic Regulations, vehicle drivers (including mopeds and motorcycles) can warn of their maneuvers using their arm when light signals are not working or to reinforce safety. Meanings of left arm positions: Arm extended horizontally with palm down: Indicates a turn or lateral movement to the left. Arm bent upwards at a right angle (L-shape): Would indicate a right turn. Arm extended horizontally with palm facing backward: Would indicate reversing. Therefore, they are signaling neither reversing nor immobilizing the vehicle (which would be done by moving the arm up and down). Remember that arm signaling is valid and prevails over light signaling if there is a contradiction, provided it is clearly visible.
