As a general rule, is a motorcycle allowed to ride on the passable shoulder of an interurban road?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

No, it is not allowed. Motorcycles are classified as automobiles and, by regulation, must drive on the roadway (calzada). The shoulder is specifically reserved for other users (such as mopeds, pedestrians, bicycles, animal-drawn vehicles) or for vehicles up to 3,500 kg traveling at abnormally reduced speeds due to an emergency while seriously disturbing traffic. Neither the engine displacement nor the position relative to other vehicles justifies the use of the shoulder under normal traffic conditions.
