Spanish regulations state that, as a general rule, minors 135 cm tall or shorter must travel in the rear seats. They may only occupy the front seat in three exceptional cases: 1) The vehicle has no rear seats, 2) The rear seats are already occupied by other minors with their respective restraint systems, or 3) It is impossible to install all restraint systems in the rear seats. In any of these cases, if they travel in the front, it is mandatory that they always use an approved Child Restraint System (CRS) adapted to their size and weight. Additionally, if the system is installed rear-facing, the passenger airbag must be deactivated.
