Is eating or drinking while driving considered a dangerous distraction?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is Yes. Engaging in activities unrelated to driving, such as eating or drinking, diverts the driver's attention and is considered a major risk factor (Human Factor). These actions involve three types of interference: Physical distraction: One hand is occupied, limiting freedom of movement and control of the steering wheel. Visual distraction: When manipulating food or containers, or tilting the head to drink, you momentarily lose sight of the road. Cognitive distraction: Mental focus is divided. According to traffic regulations, the driver is obliged to maintain freedom of movement, the necessary field of vision, and permanent attention to driving. Therefore, drinking is just as dangerous as eating, making the option that differentiates between them incorrect.
