By what other common name is the service brake known in a vehicle?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is Foot brake. The service brake is the main system of the vehicle intended to reduce speed or stop it safely, gradually, and effectively. It is called the 'foot brake' because it is operated via the pedal located on the right (or center in manual cars) and acts on all wheels of the vehicle. In contrast: The handbrake generally refers to the parking brake, used to keep the vehicle stationary once it has stopped. The emergency brake is a system (often integrated into the same circuit) that acts if the service brake fails, but it is not the common name for the main brake.
