Traffic regulations define 'yielding' (giving way) very specifically. It does not simply mean letting a vehicle pass, but ensuring you do not interfere with their driving. Therefore, you may only resume driving when you are certain that your maneuver will not force the vehicle with priority to change its trajectory or modify its speed (brake or accelerate). Doing so 'immediately' or just when 'space exists' is insufficient if that action disturbs the user with priority.
