Where must a novice driver strictly place the V-13 signal (the "L" plate) on a passenger car?

The correct answer is on the rear left side and in a visible place. According to the General Vehicle Regulations, the V-13 signal (the green plate with the white 'L') must be placed on the rear left of the vehicle. The technical reason for this location is that in countries where driving is on the right, overtaking takes place on the left. Placing the plate on that side ensures that drivers approaching from behind to overtake see it immediately, thus warning of the driver's lack of experience. Placing it on the right or in an obscure location would reduce its effectiveness and violates the regulations.
