Which gears transmit the most driving force to the vehicle's wheels?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is the first and the second. In automotive mechanics, these are referred to as low gears (or short gears). How it works: Low gears have a transmission ratio that multiplies engine torque (force). The engine must spin many times for the wheels to make one full rotation. This generates a lot of pushing power, which is ideal for overcoming initial inertia (starting from a stop), climbing steep hills, or towing. Comparison: As you shift up (third, fourth, fifth), you gain speed but lose immediate force capability. High gears (4th and 5th) are designed to maintain speed with low fuel consumption, but they lack the force required to start moving or accelerate sharply on an incline.
