Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is No. As a general rule, it is forbidden to give food or drink to the injured in a traffic accident, even if they ask for it or if it is just water. The medical and safety reasons are clear: Risk of suffocation and aspiration: If the victim loses consciousness or goes into shock, stomach contents could pass into the airways, blocking airflow. Emergency surgery: The injured person will likely need immediate surgery. To administer anesthesia safely and avoid serious complications, the stomach must be empty. Internal injuries: Ingesting liquids or solids can aggravate potential injuries to the digestive system. Only medical personnel can authorize intake in very specific cases.
