As a general rule, is it mandatory to stop to assist victims of a traffic accident?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is 'Yes, except when help is already organized'. According to the General Traffic Regulations and the Criminal Code (offense of failure to render assistance), every road user who is involved in an accident or witnesses one is required to provide assistance, provided they can do so without risk to themselves or to third parties. However, there is a crucial exception: if help is already organized (the emergency services or law enforcement officers are already acting), it is not only not mandatory to stop, but it is not advisable. Stopping unnecessarily in these cases can hinder the work of the rescue services and cause new accidents or tailbacks because of the 'rubbernecking' effect. Therefore, the obligation ceases when the situation is already under professional control.
