To travel on public roads, what element must internal combustion engines be equipped with?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

According to General Vehicle Regulations, internal combustion engines must be equipped with devices serving two main functions to ensure safety and minimize disturbance: a silencer to reduce explosion noise and a device preventing the projection of unburned fuel into the environment. The correct answer refers to the latter, which is crucial for preventing pollution and fire hazards. The air conditioning system is an optional comfort feature, and the material of the exhaust pipe (stainless steel) is a manufacturing choice, not a legal requirement.
