Which cyclists are authorized to ride on the shoulder of a dual carriageway or twinned road?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

As a general rule, cycling is prohibited on motorways and dual carriageways. However, the General Traffic Regulations establish a specific exception for dual carriageways (and twinned roads): bicycle riders over 14 years of age may ride on their shoulders, unless a sign expressly prohibits it for justified road safety reasons. Therefore, those under 14 are prohibited from entering them, to protect their safety given the high speed of these roads.
