Is it permitted to make signals to pedestrians to indicate that they should cross at a crosswalk?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is NO. Although the driver is obliged to stop and yield at a pedestrian crossing, they must never signal with their hand or lights inviting the pedestrian to cross. The reason is safety: the pedestrian might blindly trust your signal and start crossing without checking for other vehicles approaching in adjacent lanes or from the opposite direction. Other drivers might not have seen the pedestrian (obscured by your own vehicle), leading to a collision. Your responsibility ends at stopping; the decision to cross must be made by the pedestrian after ensuring their own safety.
