In a vehicle equipped with a manual gearbox, what action must the driver mandatorily perform before selecting a new gear?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is to fully depress the clutch pedal. In a manual car, the transmission system connects the engine to the wheels. To change gears without damaging the mechanics, it is necessary to momentarily interrupt that connection. This is achieved by fully pressing the clutch with the left foot, which disengages the engine from the gearbox. Regarding the incorrect options: you should not gently press the brake as a general rule (only if you need to reduce speed), nor should you accelerate right before, as the correct action is to lift your foot off the accelerator simultaneously while pressing the clutch to avoid revving the engine unnecessarily in neutral.
