If you encounter puddles on the road, what safety measure should you adopt?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is you must moderate your speed. Detailed explanation: When there are puddles on the road, there is a high risk of aquaplaning (hydroplaning). This phenomenon occurs when water accumulates in front of the tires faster than the vehicle's weight can displace it or the tire tread can evacuate it. This causes the car to lose contact with the asphalt and slide uncontrollably on a film of water. Why the other options are incorrect: Accelerate: Exponentially increases the risk of aquaplaning and loss of steering. Furthermore, hitting water at high speed can damage mechanical components or cause dangerous splashing to other road users. Take no precautions: Ignoring road conditions contravenes basic road safety rules, as grip involves wet surfaces is always lower than on dry ones.
