Is it mandatory for passenger cars to be equipped with a rear windshield wiper?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

No, according to the General Vehicle Regulations, the only mandatory cleaning device is the front windshield wiper, which must ensure a clear forward view. The rear windshield wiper is optional, although the vast majority of manufacturers include it as standard, especially on hatchback vehicles where turbulence makes the glass dirtier. Summary of the rule: Front: Mandatory. Rear: Not mandatory, but highly recommended to ensure visibility through the interior rearview mirror in case of rain, snow, or dirt.
