Regulations require that passenger cars, buses, goods transport vehicles (up to 3,500 kg MMA), and mixed-use adaptable vehicles carry a certified high-visibility reflective vest as mandatory equipment.  For it to be effective and compliant with usage rules, the vest must be located in a place accessible from the driver's seat (such as the glove compartment or door pocket), allowing the driver to put it on before exiting the vehicle on interurban roads. Therefore, while it must be in the vehicle, keeping it in the trunk would prevent correct usage before stepping out.
