It is strictly forbidden to ride with a so-called "open exhaust" on any type of road. Motorcycles must have an approved explosion silencer device in perfect working order. Riding without this device, or with one that has been modified or is broken, produces unacceptable noise pollution. This offense is punishable and can be a reason for failing the Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV).
