According to the priority order established in the General Traffic Regulations, which signals prevail: traffic lights or vertical signs?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

It is essential to know the hierarchy of signals to act correctly when there is a contradiction between them. The order of priority in Spain is: Traffic Agents/Police. Temporary and beaconing signals (roadworks, cones). Traffic lights. Vertical signs. Road markings. Therefore, traffic lights have priority over vertical signs. Practical example: If you encounter a green traffic light and a vertical STOP sign, you must obey the traffic light and proceed (with caution), ignoring the STOP sign unless the traffic light is off or flashing amber.
