If a fire breaks out inside a tunnel and you are forced to abandon your vehicle, how should you leave it?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

In an extreme emergency situation like a fire inside a tunnel, the priority is to facilitate evacuation and the work of rescue teams. If you must abandon the car, regulations state that you must turn off the engine (to avoid consuming oxygen or generating more smoke), but it is crucial to leave the keys in the ignition and the doors open (or unlocked). This is done so that if the vehicle hinders firefighters or ambulances, or blocks an exit, emergency services can immediately enter, start the car, and move it. Locking the doors or taking the keys would lock the steering and turn the vehicle into an immovable obstacle.
