In which circumstance is it essential to increase the safety distance from the vehicle driving ahead?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is 'When the driving speed increases'. Safety distance must always be proportional to speed due to basic physics: at higher speeds, the vehicle travels more meters during the driver's reaction time, and braking distance increases exponentially (the square of the speed). Therefore, to avoid a rear-end collision in the event of sudden braking, the faster you go, the greater the gap must be. The other options are incorrect because when reducing speed, the required stopping distance decreases, and when preparing to overtake, while safety distance must be maintained, it is not the moment where the rule specifically requires increasing it as a primary preventive measure.
