As a general rule, overtaking is prohibited at pedestrian crossings and in their vicinity. However, there is an exception to this general rule. Overtaking is permitted if it is carried out at such a slow speed that the vehicle can be stopped in time. This avoids any danger of running someone over if a pedestrian steps onto the roadway.
