Outside built-up areas, what safety element is mandatory for pedestrians walking on the roadway or shoulder between sunset and sunrise or in low visibility conditions?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

Traffic regulations (the General Traffic Regulations) state that pedestrians walking on the roadway or shoulder outside built-up areas in low-light conditions (night, dusk, dawn, or adverse weather) must make themselves visible to avoid accidents. The rule does not specifically mandate a 'vest' (although it is valid), but rather defines the technical requirement: they must carry an approved luminous or retro-reflective element. The crucial factor is that this element must be visible to drivers from a minimum distance of 150 meters. A simple flashlight might not be sufficient if it does not meet this range, and a vest is just one example of a retro-reflective element.
