When helping at a traffic accident, what aspect must you consider first and foremost?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is self-protection. According to the P.A.S. protocol (Protect, Alert, Help), the first step is 'Protect', and within this the absolute priority is your own safety (self-protection). Before assisting the victims or protecting the accident site, you must make sure that you do not become a new victim. This means stopping the vehicle in a safe area, immobilizing it, turning on the hazard lights and putting on the reflective vest before getting out. If you are injured because you acted rashly, you will not be able to help and you will make the accident worse.
