If you install a rear-facing child restraint system in the front passenger seat, what safety measure is essential?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

Traffic regulations state that children 135 cm or shorter should preferably travel in the rear seats. However, there are exceptions allowing them in the front seat (e.g., if the vehicle has no rear seats or they are occupied by other children in child seats). Specifically, if you install a rear-facing Child Restraint System (CRS) in the front seat, it is MANDATORY to deactivate the passenger airbag. If the airbag deploys during a crash, it would hit the back of the child seat with immense force (approx. 300 km/h), crushing the child against the seat backrest and causing severe or fatal injuries. If the vehicle does not allow for airbag deactivation, placing the rear-facing seat there is prohibited.
