When bicycles are riding on the shoulder of a highway, what action is strictly prohibited for them?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is invading the carriageway. According to General Traffic Regulations, bicycle riders over 14 years old may ride on the shoulders of highways (autovías) unless signs indicate otherwise, but they are obliged to stay on the shoulder. The rule is strict: 'on highways, they may only ride on the shoulder, without invading the carriageway in any case.' This is due to the significant speed difference with other vehicles, which would make entering the main lanes a deadly risk.
