Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

According to Traffic Law, responsibility for violations falls directly on the author of the act; that is, the person performing the prohibited action. The author of the act: This is the driver who commits the offense (e.g., speeding, running a stop sign). It is this person who loses license points if applicable. The registered owner: Is only responsible for violations regarding vehicle documentation (MOT/ITV, insurance) or the vehicle's condition, and subsidiarily if they fail to identify the responsible driver. The insurance policyholder: Is the person who contracts the policy and pays the premium, but is not liable for the driver's traffic fines.
