At what specific moment does a passenger car's rear-view camera automatically activate?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is when reverse gear is engaged. The rear-view camera is a driver assistance system (ADAS) designed to improve visibility and safety. The system is linked to the gear selector; engaging reverse gear sends a signal that activates the camera and projects the image onto the dashboard screen, allowing the driver to see the rear blind spot. Simply having the screen on (for radio or GPS) or stopping the vehicle (e.g., at a traffic light) does not activate the camera, as this function is specific to the reversing maneuver.
