As a general rule, on interurban roads with more than one lane for the same direction, you must drive in the lane furthest to the right. The use of other lanes is reserved for overtaking or facilitating the merging of other vehicles. However, there is an important exception to improve traffic flow: a driver may remain in the left lane if they intend to overtake another vehicle or line of vehicles successively. This exception has a mandatory condition: you must not hinder the progress of faster vehicles approaching from behind. Therefore: It is incorrect to stay indefinitely in the left lane if the right lane is free. It is dangerous to return to the right lane only to immediately pull out again (weaving/zig-zagging) if there is another slow vehicle ahead.
