What emissions are vehicles prohibited from exceeding when driving on public roads?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is Noise levels above the established limits. According to the General Vehicle Regulations, motor vehicles and mopeds cannot circulate if they emit electromagnetic disturbances, noise, gases, or smoke that exceed legally established values. Analysis of options: Noises of any kind (Incorrect): It is technically impossible for a conventional vehicle to make zero noise (engine, rolling resistance, aerodynamics). The rule does not require total silence, but rather that the maximum decibel threshold is not exceeded. Gases from the exhaust (Incorrect): Combustion vehicles inevitably emit gases. What is penalized is not the emission itself, but exceeding the opacity or toxicity levels permitted by the vehicle's homologation. Remember that driving with an 'open exhaust' (without an explosion silencer) is prohibited, and agents can immobilize the vehicle if noise or gas levels pose an environmental risk.
