Does using a mobile phone while driving pose a risk to road safety?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

Using a mobile phone is one of the main causes of accidents due to distraction. It interferes seriously with driving in three ways: visually (taking your eyes off the road), manually (taking your hands off the wheel) and cognitively (taking your mind off driving). Even when using a hands-free system, although it is legally permitted, there is a strong cognitive distraction that reduces the attention needed, causes 'inattention blindness' (looking without seeing) and significantly increases the reaction time to a hazard. Therefore, the correct answer is that it is risky because it reduces attention, regardless of how long the call lasts.
