Under current Spanish regulations, any modification that alters the vehicle's technical characteristics (such as power, steering, brakes, bodywork) is considered a major modification (reforma de importancia). To drive legally, such reform must be homologated and pass a specific Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV) so that the modification is recorded on the ITV Card. The fact that the modification improves performance is not a valid justification if it has not been legally documented.
