What is the maximum number of authorized seats a van may have, including the driver?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The legal limit for a van (and generally for vehicles that can be driven with a Class B license, such as cars and mixed vehicles) is 9 seats in total: the driver plus 8 passengers. If a vehicle is designed and authorized to transport more than 9 people, it is classified as a bus or coach, which would require a Class D license. Although many commercial vans have 3 or 5 seats, the question refers to the maximum legal capacity allowed by definition for this type of vehicle.
