Can using a mobile phone with a 'hands-free' system while driving influence the driver's attention capacity?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is YES, it is difficult to maintain adequate attention. Although using a hands-free system is legally permitted (as long as it does not involve headphones or handling the device by hand), in terms of road safety it represents a significant risk. Holding a phone conversation requires cognitive resources that the brain 'takes' from driving. This causes what is known as 'inattention blindness': the driver looks at the road but the brain does not process much of the information (signs, pedestrians, etc.). Studies show that after a minute and a half of conversation, up to 40% of signs are no longer noticed, even with hands-free.
