In whose name must the vehicle be registered in the Official Vehicle Registry?

Question

DentroTest · Accepted Answer

The correct answer is the legal owner of the vehicle (known as the registered holder). According to traffic regulations in Spain, the Registration Certificate (Permiso de Circulación) is the document that identifies the vehicle's holder to the Administration. Key points: Owner vs. Driver: The DGT Vehicle Registry identifies ownership and administrative responsibility (MOT/ITV, Insurance), not necessarily who drives it. The habitual driver can be a different person from the owner. Liability: The registered owner is ultimately responsible for the vehicle's documentary obligations and is legally required to identify the driver in the event of an infraction if the driver was not stopped on the spot. The other options are incorrect because the official registry is based on legal ownership, not on the frequency of use or the driver's arbitrary choice.
