1.1.1 · Failing to correctly check the vehicle's overall condition: locating and identifying the various controls, tyres, lights, fluid levels (oil, brakes, steering, coolant, washer fluid), horn, battery identification, opening the bonnet (engine) or grille, reflective vest, portable hazard warning devices, documentation.

How many minor faults are allowed on the practical test?

The result is a fail with 10 minor faults. With 9 minor faults and no serious or major fault, the result is a pass.

How many major faults fail the practical test?

Two major faults mean a fail. You also fail with one major fault plus five minor faults.

Does one serious fault fail the practical test?

Yes. A single serious fault means a fail, because it implies danger to your own safety or that of other road users.

What do E, D and L mean on a DGT result?

E means serious (eliminatoria), D means major (deficiente) and L means minor (leve). They are the three categories the examiner uses during the test.
