What you need to take the exam

  • Having passed the license recovery course (20 hours) within the last 2 years.
  • Having completed the loss-of-validity period (6 months, 3 if you are a professional driver) or the sentence.
  • A medical and psychological fitness report from a Driver Medical Test Center (valid for 90 days).
  • The application and DGT fee 2.3, “Recovery of the license after loss of validity”.
  • An appointment at any Provincial or local Traffic Office.

What to study

The course subjects, not the driving test syllabus. The common part is the same for everyone: traffic accidents and their consequences, risk groups, new forms of mobility, speed, alcohol, drugs and medicines, distractions, sleep and fatigue, the seat belt, helmet and child restraint, and complying with the rules. Your profile carries more weight in the specific part.

The official material is the student manuals of the DGT program, which you can download for free from its website.

If you do not pass the first time

  1. First attempt

After passing the 20-hour course and completing the waiting period.

  2. If you fail

You take a 4-hour module on the content of your profile (it can be online) and the center gives you a certificate to take the exam again.

  3. Second and third

With that certificate. All within 2 years of passing the course.

  4. If you fail all three

You have to repeat the full course, at the same center or a different one.

Practice with the tests for your profile
